Born in the city of Ched Nasad on the continent Faerun, he was put into a portal by his father in the year 1327 DR. His father, a follower of Vhaerau, gave Vyln a magical bow, and told Vyln that someone would be waiting for him on the other side, and he was never to return to Ched Nasad. Vlyn waited for days on the other end of the Portal, but no one showed. With no return portal, and hunger setting in, Vyln started out wandering across Faerun. Vyln learned quickly to rest and stay hidden during daylight and only travel at night. He learned the ways of the forest, and robbing and stealing became second nature to him. Vyln’s prowess with the bow grew, keeping his prey at a distance, giving him the time needed to hide in the shadows if his aim failed him.
The city of Ched Nasad, and his father, have both became a distant memory. Eventually Vyln made his way to Elben Aator, and to the city of Sizth. Vyln's journies taught him not to attract attention to himself and he has kept his distance from Sizth’s noble houses. For the first time in his life, he’s found some comfort being able to hunt amongst his own people, honing his skills, learning their ways, and figuring how to carve out a place for himself.
